Dennis Allen's connection to the water began early. As a young man, he spent countless days fishing for trout with his grandparents on the lakes of Vancouver, British Columbia. Experiences that helped to spark a lifelong respect for boating, craftsmanship, and time spent on the water.

After completing college in Northern British Columbia, Dennis began his professional marine career with Marisol Marine. Working first as a Mechanic before advancing up the ladder to run the Parts Department. Known for his hands-on skill and leadership, he quickly became a trusted presence within the operation.

Those years weren't just about work, they were about camaraderie and a passion for all things boating. Alongside fellow staff members, Dennis helped build a legendary Bathtub Boat, competing in the famous bathtub races from Nanaimo to Kitsilano. With Dennis at the helm, the Team successfully brought the boat across the finish line at Kitsilano Beach. A moment that still reflects his determination, dedication to teamwork, and love for boating.

Speaking of his love for boating, it was back in 1986 that he chose to take all of that boating knowledge and experience to the next level. Wife his wife Laura Marie in full support they chose to embark on a new journey. After doing quite a bit of research it was determined that San Diego would be the perfect place to take that next step. Being right on the water and surrounded by all things boating, not to mention no more frozen winters, it just couldn't get any better. And so with that knowledge in mind they made the move south and almost immediately upon landing, quickly opened up Affordable Marine Service.

Founded in 1986, driven by a lifelong passion for boating and a clear vision; to deliver powerboat service and repair at the highest professional standard. From what originally started off as a single vehicle, mobile "dockside" operation, Affordable Marine Service quickly gained recognition in the San Diego boating community for skill, integrity, and uncompromising workmanship.

Long before digital marketing or online scheduling, when cell phones were the size of suitcases, Affordable Marine Service built its reputation through hands-on expertise, consistent results, and a relentless commitment to customer satisfaction. That foundation fueled steady growth into what is today one of San Diego's most respected powerboat service and repair operations.

Within a few years Dennis expanded the company into one of San Diego's largest private boat yards, earning the trust and respect of both private and corporate clients alike. Notable work includes serving Sea World as a daily Safety Officer, diagnosing and servicing vessels for the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, outfitting United States Navy RIB boats during 9/11 to support active coastal patrol along San Diego's military waterfront, and assisting the California Dept. of Fish and Wildlife with critical vessel repairs.
